Epicenter Communications was founded in 1991 by Matthew Naythons, MD, a physician and photojournalist.

What Epicenter does.

The company’s history combines photographic publishing, large editorial projects, online health information and a portfolio of category-focused digital properties.

In 1995 Epicenter formed NetMed and NetHealth and began developing disease-specific health sites. Alongside those online projects, the company continued to produce books and photographic projects, including official presidential inaugural books and documentary work.

Matthew Naythons, MD

Founder and President

A physician and former TIME magazine photojournalist, Dr. Matthew Naythons founded Epicenter Communications after a career spanning medicine and documentary photography. His work has brought together visual storytelling, publishing and health information across ambitious editorial and media projects.

Daniel Kunstler

Chief Operating Officer

Daniel Kunstler oversees operations and finance at Epicenter. He spent nearly twenty-five years at J.P. Morgan, where his work included corporate finance and equity research, bringing a long-range business and analytical perspective to the company’s publishing and digital initiatives.

Tom Walker

Creative Director

Tom Walker is a publishing creative director whose work spans large-scale photographic projects, illustrated books and official U.S. presidential inaugural publications. At Epicenter, he helps shape the visual direction and presentation of complex editorial and documentary projects.

Dawn Sheggeby

VP, Editorial

Dawn Sheggeby leads editorial development for large-scale illustrated books, photographic assignments and exhibitions. Her work brings together writers, photographers, archives and production teams to turn complex subject matter into clear, visually driven publishing projects.

Peter Goggin

VP, AI & Digital Innovation

Peter Goggin leads Epicenter’s work in AI, digital publishing, editorial systems and emerging media. He focuses on applying new technologies to practical creative and business problems, developing tools, workflows and products that move ideas from concept to usable digital experiences.
