Epicenter Communications Launches Health and Medical News Website

MedNews.com, a health, fitness and medical news company offers comprehensive news tools for health care consumers, medical professionals, and media publishers.

San Francisco, July 15, 2007 – Epicenter Commmunications, Inc. announces the launch of the re-designed MedNews.com, a health and medical news company that provides news feeds, a publishing platform and research tools for healthcare consumers, medical professionals, and publishers.

MedNews is the first in a series of news sites slated for release by Epicenter's partner, Argonaut Ventures LLC, a San Francisco Bay Area company specializing in the funding and development of health and medical companies online.

"We've had a lot of feedback from patients and from medical researchers who were looking for ways to find, catalog, collaborate, organize and provide commentary about currently available health and medical information," says Dr. Matthew Naythons, President of Epicenter Communications. "MedNews.com delivers value on both the publishing and user side of the equation, improving the signal to noise ratio of health information."

According to Peter Goggin, an Argonaut Ventures partner, the website gives control of information back to its users, allowing members to build a customized display of news topics, as well as clip articles of interest for filing, comment on existing material, or email stories to colleagues or research collaborators. Users can also publish commentary and research directly to MedNews categories for independent publishers.

"From the business side, we're building the infrastructure that will allow publishers to more efficiently research, write and publish their material, as well as manage subscriptions, advertising and most of the business functions associated with journal publication" notes Goggin. "There are a lot of paper-based publications that have extremely limited reach because they're just too difficult to find. In the near future we'll be seeing an evolution in this industry," he said.
